What is Imperium Sine Fine
Imperium Sine Fine is a hex-based fantasy grand strategy game — command one of 14 factions drawn from 8 playable races, build an empire from a single province into a sprawling realm, and decide its fate through economy, diplomacy, and war.
The Premise
Every campaign begins the same way every empire's history does: a single capital, a handful of settlers, and a map full of possibility. From there, the choices are entirely yours. Develop your provinces and grow a thriving economy, research technologies that reshape how your armies fight, forge alliances or break them when it suits you, and expand your borders by founding new cities or simply taking someone else's. There's no single path to victory laid out for you — only the empire you choose to build, and the methods you're willing to use to build it.
Will you rule as a wise, popular emperor whose diplomatic skill keeps the realm at peace, or a ruthless conqueror who measures success in conquered provinces? The systems underneath the game — population, loyalty, combat, leadership — don't judge which path you take. They simply respond to it, consistently and in detail.
A Game Built on Real Calculations
Imperium Sine Fine is designed for players who enjoy understanding why something happened, not just that it did. Every formula in this wiki — combat damage, loyalty drift, assimilation rates, recruitment numbers — reflects the actual mechanics running underneath the game, not a simplified summary of them.
For a quick reference while playing, hover over (desktop) or long-press (Android) most map elements, troop names, and other interface elements for an at-a-glance summary of relevant stats. Pressing or clicking on troops, equipment, and most other elements opens a more detailed dialog or screen with the full picture — this wiki exists for when you want even more context than that, including the underlying formulas themselves.
Factions, Races, and Lore
The game features 14 playable factions drawn from 8 playable races — see Factions and Races for the full roster, history, and worldview of each. Beyond these, two further races exist as part of the wider world without being playable themselves: the amphibian raiders of Mevaro and the secretive Necromancer collective, both encountered as opponents on the map rather than chosen at the start of a game.
The world itself has its own deep, internally consistent lore, spanning everything from the peaceful and aggressive branches of the unliving Ende to the persecution-haunted history of the fox-like Skulk — woven throughout the game's flavour text, faction descriptions, and the in-development Chronicles of Cardolya expansion.
Where to Start
New to the game entirely? See Difficulty Levels for choosing a challenge that suits you, Fog of War for one of the game's optional settings that changes how the map itself is revealed to you, and Victory Conditions for how a campaign is actually won. From there, Province Development, Population Mechanics, and Armies cover the foundations everything else builds on.
